News from Lily Haydn and Alexa Weber Morales

(Lily Haydn)

"Hello Arnaldo,

I hope all is well in your world. I wanted to let you know about a couple of exciting things happening in mine.

After years of being a part of other film composers' musical arsenal, I scored my first film last year. It's called The Horseboy , and it comes out this Friday October 9 in Los Angeles at the Nuart Theater in West LA for one week only, and around the US all this month.

The film is about a family's enchanted quest to heal their son's autism, as they travel from shaman to shaman on horseback in Mongolia. I will be at the Nuart this Friday, opening night at 7:30, and would love to see you there! As you know, independent film lives and dies by word of mouth and local support. Please go see this remarkable film if you are going to see a movie this week.

The music for this came out so beautifully, thanks to my collaboration with guitarist/composer Kim Carroll, and it is NOW AVAILABLE on ITUNES. It's part Ry Cooder, part Crouching Tiger... I love it and would love to share it with you!

In other news, I am working on my new cd, working on another film called The Lightmaker, and just returned from doing a fellowship at the Sundance Film Composers Lab, where I was lucky enough to study with some of the greats, including Harry Gregson Williams, David Newman, and George S. Clinton.

Also, November 1, I will be performing at the Napa Opera House, opening for Bob Wier , as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Global Security Institute (the preeminent NGO focused on Nuclear Disarmament, and on November 6, I will be joining grammy winning composer Matteo Messina and DJ Cut Chemist for Symphony of the Superhero , a concert to benefit Children's Hospital in Seattle, during which a symphony orchestra will be performing some of my music.

Much love and many blessings,
hope to see you soon,
Lili"

"Most autumnal Arnaldo ~

This weekend was a triple-header for Andy y Su Orquesta Callao, and it culminated in a wonderful show at that very San Franciscan institution, the outdoor stage at El Rio, where we enjoyed stellar sound engineering by Frank, rapturous dancers and a genuine rapport on stage. Gone was the in-fighting, the gun-pointing, the hair-pulling and the cat-scratching, replaced by the harmonious energy of a dedicated posse of underpaid performers! Wait, maybe that was the most recent episode of Desperate Housewives. The point is, we felt great and we'd love to see more of you!

With that in mind, I thought I'd let you know where I'll be during this very busy week! Please see below for some dates that might interest you...

Still kicking,
Alexa"
