DVD of the Day - "Miles Davis: That's What Happened"

DVD of the Day
Miles Davis: "That's What Happened" (Eagle/ST2) 2009

Featuring: Kenny Garrett, Joseph "Foley" McCreary, Adam Holzman, Bobby Irving, Darryl Jones, Mino Cinelu & Ricky Wellman.
This amazing concert, filmed in Munich in 1987, followed the release of his Grammy Award winning album "Tutu." Ever the innovator, Miles Davis hits the stage armed with wild, engaging interpretations of Cyndi Lauper’s "Time After Time" and Michael Jackson’s hit "Human Nature," written by Steve Porcaro (of Toto) and John Bettis for the "Thriller" album. Miles fell in love with the song, that became Jackson's fifth Top 10 hit from the multi-platinum "Thriller" (its definitive version would appear later on Miles' "Live in Paris" DVD).
"That's What Happened" also features Davis performing tracks from his Grammy Award-winning album "Tutu" (the title track and "Portia"), plus "New Blues" and the medley "One Phone Call / Street Scenes / That's What Happened").
Cinelu's "moringa" solo on "Tutu" is a highlight.
The extra brings a fantastic interview with the Picasso of Jazz, along with scenes from an exhibition of Miles' paintings and drawings.
